Exposing the disgusting truths about Bobby Orr that every hockey fan wishes they could ignore.

The emails keep pouring in and they are…

Posted on November 6, 2009

POSITIVE!

It can’t be denied, the public supports NoMoreOrr! Thanks to all the mailers who send us messages of support!

One odd trend we’re noticing though is that SPAM email has really taken a different turn. I don’t know what product they’re trying to sell, but our account keeps getting filled with emails containing messages like “you’re an idiot” and “I wish you’d die”.

Strange indeed.

Regardless, once the countless hate-SPAM is sifted through it’s clear, NoMoreOrr has the people behind it! Keep fighting the good fight ladies and gentlemen and remember the goal – NO MORE ORR!

How can u trash Orr this much? Ok he might have played selfish at times but hes the whole reason I play hockey he’s my inspiration. There are a few selfish players left in my league atleast and I am definitely not one if them. Bobby Orr inspired me to be more of a team player I lead my team in assists not goal

How old are you? 8? I dont know if you meant this to be a joke or not, but I sure got a laugh out of it. If you are serious you are a moron, Bobby Orr was the best player of his time, that definitely qualifies him as a hall of famer. If Orr wasnt anything special, why didnt other defencemen of that time score over 100 points and have huge plus/minus ratings?

I would have love to have seen you play against him. He would have made a fool out of you and all you could have done was watch him go right by you, just like he did everyone else!!!!

I am a Rangers fan and have followed the NHL since I was a kid back in the 1940’s. I do not like the Bruins and did not like Orr because he was a Bruin but would have loved him playing in New York.

You are a flippin idiot get a life will you please. So if Orr should be thrown out of the hall then so should Howe, Hull, Richard, Lindsey, and so many others. You insult all players of the past with your out of line website. Orr fought and put his body in harms way far more than most in the game then and now. Gretsky on the other hand was a momma’s boy afraid to drop his gloves, never protected teammates, and if a player looked at him wrong was sent to the box. He was the biggest pussy to ever play the game and got so much favortism from officials that players where afraid to touch him or thier team would have a man disadvantage.

As far as heart and size of players at that time you are way out of line and incorrect but one would have to expect that from a pinhead like yourself. I’ll bet you never played a sport well or even broke a sweat from hard work.

There are far more important problems in the world today that should be addressed than slamming Bobby Orr. Why don’t you build a site that covers the enviromental problem, the terroist problem, or turn your attention on the homeless problem. I suppose you are not big enough for that so you’d rather rip other people and thier accomplishments.

May God forgive you and your hatefulness.

If Orr played today he’d have better skates, sticks, equipment, and better opportunities for conditioning and training. He came from an era when people weren’t pampered like they are now. In other words, he and all of the players from his era would be better if they’d had the opportunities today’s players have. Orr would still dominate, still be one of the best. There are many greats today, in all fairness. Whoever runs this site probably knows little about hockey, probably never played the game. It’s too bad the internet even exists, it gives every moron like you a chance to spout off about things which you have no clue. Go find something productive to do with your life, like being a training dummy for police dogs.

Obviously there must be a grand conspiracy involving the International and Canadian Olympic Committees too since they chose Orr as one of only six Canadians deserving the honor to carry the Olympic Flag into the stadium last night. I seemed to notice Orr and Gretzky were the only two Canadian hockey players so honored in the opening ceremonies. So make sure to send your petition to them as well because they clearly don’t have the incredible knowledge of hockey that you do.

While were one the topic of people not deserving I work with the sister of a pretty famous player and when he first came into the league during the gretzky era the players were told the was one rule that had to be followed and this is word for word, don’t touch Gretzky. Some food for thought

Are all of you idiots?? Bobby Orr was the best defensemen of his day! He used his offensive skills to create passing lanes. There were times he would fake a shot to give a player a wide open net to score on. He made it so Wayne Gretzky could thrive on the new style of hockey that Orr created. Every offensive defensemen that plays in the game today owes their style of hockey. And Orr couldn’t take the rough style of the game? that is stupid! He mixed it up in the corners, nailed much bigger opponents and fought the biggest and baddest in the league. Anyone who supports this site is a moron and is smoking way to much pot.

This is a hilarious site. To the person or persons that created this site, here is a question for you. Did Bobby Orr beat you up when you were a kid in school or something? That is the only reason why I can think of that you would want to waste this much time developing a site like this. You are a moron, but very funny to think that this is actually going to do anything to harm Bobby Orr’s image or reputation. MOVE ON!!!

Are you getting paid everytime someone looks at this site? You sit behind a screen and maline Bobby Orr. Why not come out in person and say the same kinds of things in public instead of hiding. This isn’t even funny. One of the worst attempts at a joke I’v ever seen. Grats on beeing a bad troll. If your not trolling and your serious I think you should learn a litte about the game of hockey and how its progressed over the years before you waste everyones time in the future. Bobby Orr changed the game of hockey by getting defencemen into the offensive zone, and that whole bit on players not trying back then because they didn’t get paid a lot is one of the most uneducated comments I have ever seen.

What a waste of money. Whoever it is running this site (some coward who won’t even show his face or name) is a useless, pointless turd.

It’s especially funny how it says the e-mails of support are pouring in and not ONE is supportive.

Alright,…someone mentioned Howe, Hull, etc….what about Maurice Richard? Get him out of the HALL! ha ha. I believe he was the first dominant player in the NHL, so get him out. The playing field was not even…sheesh.

Pat Quinn was a goon and his skills were mediocre at best. The hit you talk about, had him flying in from his own zone into Boston’s to lay that hit. What a hero. Quinn himself, in that video says that Orr was the best he’s ever seen and he’d seen them all.

What is this “adjusted stats” crap? What is the equation to get there? Looks like arbitrary subtraction to me, and everyone else with half a brain. And if its done for Orr, do the same for Hull, Beliveau, Howe, Mahavolich, Moore, Mikita, Esposito, Lafleur, Bossey, on and on and on….

While we’re at it, let take away all those cups Montreal won because there were only 6 teams in the league…ha ha. Oh and of course all of those dominant years they had. The playing field was just not even. It wasn’t fair.

This is just mind boggling. Why don’t you spend your time, money and energy on something else, like maybe the player you really have a crush for, instead of being jealous of Bobby Orr on their behalf.

    Loser.

  22. Steve
    Mar 09, 2010

Well, some of the criticisms are valid from both sides here….yes, Orr did play during a weak period in pro hockey, he was a selfish showboat at times and he would probably get mopped by players in today’s game. However, we do have to take into consideration the era, and yes, for all his perceived faults and weaknesses, he was good for his time.

Whether the guy is a scourge or not, I can’t say…I don’t personally know him. One thing I do know for sure is that a whole lot of you assholes can’t spell worth a pinch of coon shit! HAHAHAHAHAHA :)

  23. Scott
    Mar 10, 2010

He is obviously kidding, but I will respond as if he isnt.

Orr probably could have competed today. look how fast he can go end to end, thats as fast or faster than any blue liner in the NHL today. He could do it all. He invented the offensive defensemen, while still being solid enough defesively to win a record number of Norris Trohpys.

Your comments just trash EVERYONE who played before the 80s

  24. Rick
    Mar 10, 2010

IF you take Orr out of the Hall, then you must also take out Howe, the Rocket and every other player before Orr came along. Up until the 70’s (and much longer after), there was no one better than Orr. And the HOF is for the best. He was the best of his generation, and of any generation since.

  25. El Torpedo
    Mar 14, 2010

This may be the most moronic site I’ve come across. Your theory seems to be that Orr didn’t compete against today’s players, therefore he shouldn’t be in the HOF. Uhhh…I guess that means no one who played before 1990 should be in the HOF. I’m not even going to bother with your pinheaded statements about players not being paid as much back then, so they didn’t try as hard. I hope for your sake that you’re 14 years old, and still have an opportunity to learn and improve your thought process. If you’re any older than that, it’s probably too late and you’ll always be thick.

  28. Orr Was Magnificent
    Mar 16, 2010

I don’t think this site is meant as a joke, which makes it all the more interesting/curious. I have met Bobby Orr, and even played golf with him at his home course. He is every bit as gracious and nice a human being as he was sublime a player. So it’s strange someone could have an axe to grind with him as a person, and it’s impossible for anyone who saw him start out behind his own net and make one of his amazing end-to-end rushes, with an entire arena now standing and screaming, to say he wasn’t spectacularly gifted.

In my opinion, Bobby Orr was the greatest hockey player ever. Remove him from the Hall? How about giving him his own wing instead since he truly was in a class by himself.

  29. Keith Magnuson
    Mar 17, 2010

Hi guys I’m Keith Magnuson I played for the blackhawks in the Bobby Orr days Boy you’re right Bobby Orr smashed my head in numerous times. I was a punching bag for him. and I was the one who got the penality. The league told all us players to leave him alone, don’t check him just let him skate around us like orange cones. Why do u think he had 102 assist one season a NHL record. Why do to think he had two scoring titles as a defenseman.only time its been done. Believe me your right we all sucked as players we could barely skate. I hope I helped you in your cause. Oh by the way he was also named best defenseman almost every year he player.

  30. Mario
    Mar 19, 2010

When Orr played, players back then were not 140 – 160 Ibs. They were more like 175 – 200 Ibs. Orr was 5′11, 190 Ibs. Not big, but some players today are this size.

When Orr played the league was half what it is today. That means better players were playing because the talent pool was better to choose from.

When Orr played, the bench only had 10 forwards, 6 on defense and 2 goalies which means good players played more.

When Orr played, players did not wear helmets or face shields and have the bulky plastic equipment of today.

When Orr played, players had a passion for the game and money was secondary. Winning was most important. Today, players making millions don’t care because they get paid win or lose. Just look at the Winter Olympics and see professional players struggling against amateurs.

When Orr played, he played with two bad knees (12 surgeries) and was better than anyone on the ice.

I suggest you watch some hockey videos of his era. Watch the artistry the players had back then. Today, it is like football on ice. Flip the puck in and chase it and crunch people in the boards. Nice try with this site. People know you’re just trying to piss them off, but it won’t work. Oh, by the way, the people of Boston voted a few years ago the greatest athlete that played for a professional team in Boston. Orr won, beating out Ted Williams, Bob Cousy, Larry Bird, Bill Russell and Carl Yastremski.
    Go figure.

  40. Orr against the world
    Apr 26, 2010

The 1976 Canada Cup featured the best players from the United States, Canada, and Europe. No conspiracies, favortism, etc. Team Canada won and Orr was named MVP. “Orr on one knee” said Bobby Clarke, “is still better than everyone else” Read this short article. All athletes, in all sports, have to be viewed against their peers of their era. Just as a 1970 Corvette can not be compared to a a 2010 Corvette, a 1970 hockey player can’t be compared to a 2010 player.

    Canada Cup

Created by the NHL, the NHLPA and Hockey Canada in 1976, the Canada Cup heralded Canada’s official return to international hockey after a boycott that had begun in 1970. The tournament included Canada, the United States and the top four European hockey nations (the USSR, Czechoslovakia, Sweden and Finland) and gave NHL players a chance to represent their respective countries.
Team Canada was built by Montreal Canadiens general manager Sam Pollock and coached by Scotty Bowman. It boasted one of the strongest lineups ever assembled, including Bobby Orr and Bobby Hull, who had missed the 1972 Canada-Russia Summit Series (Orr due to injuries and Hull because he had left the NHL for the World Hockey Association and was thus ruled ineligible). The roster also boasted 15 additional Honoured Members including Bobby Clarke, Phil Esposito, Guy Lafleur, Gilbert Perreault and Darryl Sittler. The Soviet Union, on the other hand, was a team in transition after losing the 1976 World Championship to Czechoslovakia. Many familiar names from 1972 were gone, including Valeri Kharlamov and Vladimir Petrov.

The tournament opened in Ottawa on September 2 with Team Canada scoring an easy 11-2 victory over Finland. Victories followed against the United States (4-2) and Sweden (4-0), but Canada’s hopes of an undefeated tournament were dashed on September 9 with a 1-0 loss to Czechoslovakia. Vladimir Dzurilla earned the shutout, while Milan Novy scored the lone goal. Canada rebounded for a 3-1 win over the Soviets two nights later and finished the round-robin portion of the tournament in first place with a record of 4-1-0. The Czechs had dropped a surprising 2-1 decision to Sweden, but still advanced to face Canada in the finals on the strength of a 3-1-1 record.

Despite Dzurilla’s initial success against Canada, he was pulled after allowing four goals in the first period in game one of the best-of-three finals. Jiri Holecek finished up in a 6-0 Canadian victory. Dzurilla then replaced Holecek after he surrendered two early goals in game two and was brilliant in a 4-4 tie through regulation time. At 11:03 of overtime, Darryl Sittler streaked down the left side of the Montreal Forum ice and, with a slight deke, slipped the puck past Dzurilla for the Canada Cup-winning goal.

The star of the tournament for Team Canada was Bobby Orr, who enjoyed a final turn in the spotlight before repeated knee injuries ended his brilliant career. Orr had two goals and seven assists for nine points in seven games (tying Viktor Zhluktov of the Soviet Union and teammate Denis Potvin for the scoring lead) and was named the tournament’s Most Valuable Player.

Click on a team below to see its roster and stats.
Country Games Wins Losses Ties Points
    Canada 7 5 1 1 11
    Czechoslovakia 7 3 3 1 7
    Sweden 5 2 1 2 6

I seriously doubt you ever watched hockey during the 1960’s and 1970’s. If you did, you would retract your ridiculous claim about how watered-down the NHL was duing Orr’s era. Sure, expansion did dilute the talent pool somewhat but some of the all-time greats played during Orr’s era, including Howe, Hull, Beliveau, Mahovlich, Sawchuk, Plante, Giacomin, Horton, just to name a few. The NHL is even more diluted today than ever before due to the sheer number of teams and players who would simply not have lasted during Orr’s era. A Sedin winning a scoring title is quite laughable — he would have been pushed around and bullied all the way back to Sweden had he and his evil twin played in the 1970’s. The NHL is now a pussy league and has become soccer on ice. Nothing worse that sitting through a boring 1-0 game that needed to be decided by a shootout. The real reason why scores are so low is that there are very few offensively talented players in the NHL and too much clutching and grabbing. The real person who ruined the NHL was Jacques Lemaire and his pathetic hockey system. Orr, Hull, Mahovlich, Bossy and Lafleur would have even greater career numbers had they played today. They were artists whose talents and abilities far surpassed anything the NHL has to offer today. The reason why this world is in such a state is because it is filled with idiots and you people head the list.

Bobby Orr was fantastic, and he is the reason why I am loyal to the Bruins. Even though he has already accomplished so much, he continues to be touched by the ongoing support from his fans.
